I’m gearing up for Sugar-Free September, and went through the fridge and cupboards to gather up all the sugar.
From the photo, you can see just how many foods contain sugar and other sweeteners. There’s the obvious stuff, on the bottom right you can see the white, brown and powdered sugars that I use for baking, as well as the junk like chips and marshmallows and that Jello that must have been on a back shelf for a good 5 years, but then there’s the diced tomatoes, canned tuna, mustard, and broths…things that definitely don’t need to contain sugar.
It does seem like a lot of stuff, when it’s all laid out like that, doesn’t it? Fortunately, even after pulling all these products out, the cupboards aren’t completely bare, so we still have plenty of healthy, sugar-free foods to chose from. It’s really all those convenience foods that are the worst offenders. Canned soups, prepared salad dressings, condiments and cooking sauces. Nothing that I can’t make myself, but definitely things I turn to more often than I’d like to admit.
Now it’s all bagged up and hidden away for the next 30 days.
